Greetings beautiful people…of course with all things considered, I hope you and your loved ones are all still safe, healthy, and well.
Let me go 'head and address the elephant in the room now, yes I did miss sending out last month's newsletter and I felt terrible. Simply put, I was a lil overwhelmed and before you knew it, it was already well into the next month. A special shoutout to everyone who checked in on me to see if I was ok - especially since it was the first time I had ever missed. I appreciate y'all!
Is it just me or does 2020 feel like the slowest and fastest year ever at the same time? Man! I can’t believe it’s technically already been 6 months of now what we all (reluctantly) refer to as our “new normal”. After all this time, I thought I would have adjusted to the change by now, but truthfully, I still haven’t found my rhythm.
Who else is still struggling or trying to figure it out? And for the people who have fully adjusted and are now thriving, please share your ways lol. No but seriously. Especially now with it only being 3 months left in the year - I’m trying to finish strong.
With that being said, I wanted to share something I recently discovered while working on some commission illustration work for my dear friend Rook where part of the of project called for me to draw a thermometer; at the time, I couldn’t remember what a thermometer looked like, so I asked the homie Google Images for some assistance, and of course he over-delivered and even confused me by getting images of a thermostat in the mix lol.
Long story short, what initially started out as a simple Google search, ultimately led me down an internet path of enlightenment where essentially I discovered several different messages about leadership, drawing the comparison between a thermometer and a thermostat. My mind was totally blown and I’ve been thinking about it ever since…so much that I had to share it with y’all. Here's one of the several articles/posts that I discovered that really sparked my interest.
"A thermometer measures the temperature; whereas a thermostat not only measures the temperature but also adapts it to reach the desired level."
Food for thought - considering the function of both, which one would you prefer to be?
Now if you recently subscribed and this is your 1st time receiving this newsIetter, I want to give you a brief welcome and also bring you up to speed on what exactly this newsletter is; so basically I started this newsletter January of last year (2019) to send out only ONE email on the 21st of every month and each email consisted of a few shared images of my film photography (I started shooting with film at the beginning of the year and I've been using this newsletter as an opportunity to share/document my journey), a curated music playlist of 21 of my favorite songs of the moment, and updates and/or invites to any happenings that may be occurring in between newsletters.
For the people who's already been here with me - here's another installment (and possible the last) of my 21 Questions series and this time it's featuring a special lady...
Be sure to zoom in.
LOVE YOU MOM!
Just like all the other times, as a token of my appreciation, I also curated another lil’ playlist compiled of 21 (+ 10 extra songs as a "Stay Home 2020" bonus) of my current favorite tunes (of the moment) that I invite you to vibe out to! And because I missed sending out last month's newsletter - you have an extra playlist for your listening pleasures. I hope you enjoy and I’ll be checking back in on the 21st of next month. Hopefully we'll have better news by then. Peace and love ya'll!
